From airbrushing, to artistic embellishing, album design, and calendars…Dawn has set the bar in Digital Retouching and we love how she continues to push herself! Clients love how much heart she puts into what she does and so will you!

Next up you may meet Jenny who is our Commercial Specialist! Jenny works hard with businesses throughout the Triangle who are looking for great commercial photography. From corporate headshots that aren’t so “corporate” to artistic interior and exterior shots, she has it covered to make sure that your company’s brand is properly represented through the images that are on your website, marketing, and print materials. This sassy red head we have yet to see have a bad day and her excitement is contagious…come in or refer a local business and get a dose!

Up in our front office you may be welcomed by Angela who meets with clients during their post print consultations. Last but not least you will most definitely see owners/principle photographers Dan and Somer Hadley running around the studio. This husband wife team are not only inspirational as artists but as a couple with the true love they are constantly oozing for each other! Outside of his wicked skills behind the camera Dan also is the Rockstar who does all our web development and design work! Can this guy get any more talented?

Somer is the business Starlet and wears just about every hat at the studio, an everyday superstar and multi-tasker! Everybody loves SOMIE!!! You will most likely see her buzzing around the studio in her fun wardrobe and fishnets, camera in one hand and iphone in the other. She remains constantly on a mission! Bruce and Alanas wedding in Asheville NC

Well after 2 years of their wedding being booked, we finally headed to Asheville NC to capture the big day for Bruce and Alana. With major storms in the forecast and Alana's idea to head to the Arboretum on the Blue Ridge Parkway for photos following the ceremony we knew we may have a challenging day ahead of us. Up until she walked down the aisle we had down pours off and on but all kept their cool and we overcame the small obstacles (i.e. getting her to the front of the church to make her entrance)
During the ceremony the rain below over into blue skies and it really was a beautiful day and a GORGEOUS wedding. We headed as planned to the Arboretum and it was stunning, just has Alana had described. We had a great time with the Bride and Groom along with their fun spirited wedding party as we captured love, friendship and fun! From there we headed to the reception at the Grande Bohemian. Now if you have not heard of this hotel it is a MUST SEE and MUST STAY in Asheville! We were in a photographers Heaven! I have linked their website above so check it out! The collection of art they have there alone is breathtaking BUT back to the wedding details :) The set up was breathtaking and the food exquisite but we would not expect anything different from Alana! She had a wonderful help from Asheville Event Company and in all our years in the biz we were very impressed by both their planning and service! After a fun an active reception we stole the bride and groom away for a few intimate pics before we said our thank you's and good byes. Here is a sneak peek from their day! Enjoy!

Every month the Revolution Studios Calendar Girl contest has been crazy popular! Just a reminder on how this all works...
Any boudoir client that comes in for the month has the opportunity to be entered into the our photography studios monthly context when they sign the model release form. Yes, we do give all of our boudoir clients the right to choose if they want to share their images with others as some are more excited than others to bare all and tell the story!
This month we had 12 ladies that entered into the contest and before we even posted the entries we have people emailing and texting asking when they would be up! After 4 days of voting and a VERY tight race for the title we are happy to announce that the month of April belongs to Mrs. Allison Nickerson! Congrats!

Engagement shoot at Duke Gardens

To rain or not to rain, that is the question... As of last night we told good friends and clients Philip and Kelly that with the projected forecast we needed to shoot in our photo studio in Cary. There was a horrible front coming through that was already hitting an the rain and storms were already here. Much to our surprise we woke up to find that we may be in luck so with fingers crossed we made our way to Duke Gardens for the session. Things went great!!! Not only did it not rain, the lighting couldn't have been better!!! Now that the rain was out of the picture we were able to focus on Philip and Kelly and the great outfits they brought! We manage to finish up dry however we were inspired by the extra change of clothes try brought and headed to The Durham Bulls baseball stadium for their final look sporting their team wear! Can't wait to get a few sneak peeks up from there shoot! Congrats Philip and Kelly! You make a beautiful couple! We can't wait for your wedding!!!

Pet portrait sessions can be done on location or in studio or for those who do it “Hollywood style” you can rock our combo photography session featuring both! Your vision is important. Together we will discuss and plan, so your pet photography session is your definition of perfect!
Your pets may be excited, nervous, or anxious during their photo session as they will be introduced into a new environment. This is all completely normal and nothing to get upset about. If your pet is slow to cooperate we ask you refrain from getting angry with the pet. We simply will allow a little more time to build that trust during the pet photography session. The Balance

Well normally we would be writing our weekly blog about a posing class, how to prepare for a session, lighting, or our business ethics, but today Somer and I are on vacation with our five kids. Yes five kids!!! (Most people can’t believe we have five kids but I’m here to tell you that I counted them this morning and sure enough we have five.) Somer and I value any and all time with our children as we were both married previously and share our children’s time with our ex’s. With that said, I thought I would share our thoughts on the value of a vacation from the perspective of the owners of Revolution Studios.

Here at Revolution Studios we work 5-6 Days a week. We reserve Monday – Friday for all Headshots, Modeling Photography, and Portrait Sessions including: Boudoir, Bridal, Engagement, Senior, Infant, Child and Family Portraits. Our wedding photography usually occurs about every other weekend on average. Although we receive many requests for our portrait work during the weekend we simply have to refuse as we know the value of making time for our family.

I have heard multiple times that the Europeans have mastered their work/ personal ethics. I saw some of this first hand when I went to Italy while in the Marine Corps. All of the retail shops would open late, and close for about 2 hours during lunch time and then work through mid to late evening. Their reasoning was that they would work morning hours and then need a mid day break to take a long lunch, run errands, take a nap, or do whatever they wanted. I was also told that most Europeans take 30 Days of vacation on average a year. In America the average is about 1-2 weeks. Interestingly enough, did you know that all Military Personnel get 30-Days Paid Vacation a Year from day one no matter what rank you are? With one of the toughest jobs in our nation, our government still knows the value of giving our troops time to relax and take a break. Pretty impressive.

To help maintain the balance at Revolution Studios, we are trying to take about 30 days vacation as well. In the past 12 months Somer and I have gone to San Diego, Miami, Las Vegas and Orlando (twice). I can assure you that the balance pays off. We come to work much more refreshed and focused. Creativity takes inspiration, a fresh mindset, outside perspectives and a positive attitude. These things would be hard to attain without time off and away.

So anyway, we are surrounded by theme parks, our kids going a thousand miles an hour and all of the rewards of being our best, away from work. We are truly blessed to be entrepreneurs here in America and given these opportunities by our Lord and Savior. We wish you the same blessings!!!

Owning and running one of the most successful commercial photo studios in the Triangle has been challenging but even more rewarding. Hearing our client’s feedback regarding their perspective on our service simply reinforces why we got into the business in the first place.

The studio is growing and evolving more than ever. In the past year we have grown our portrait business over 350%, hired a digital retouching artist, purchased all new photo and computer equipment and up-fitted a truly unique and modern studio that is like no other.
